Leisure Connections Myrtle Beach Wyndham Resort

We stayed at the Wyndham Baywatch resort in August of 2009 through the Leisure Connections timeshare program. This was the first opportunity that I had to use this timeshare. Upon arrival, the first thing I noticed was that we had a deadbolt lock and all of the other rooms had the traditional card key. A man was cleaning our room (not a maid), perhaps he was a leisure connections or member services inc. employee, but he did not do a very good job. The resort was nice but we did not have access to most amenities since we were there with a timeshare, not a hotel guest. We did not have maid service, fresh towels, soap coffee or any of the normal things provided at a hotel. Our coffee pot was broken, the sheets, blankets and couch were stained, but everything else worked and got us through the week. We had a stove/oven, microwave, pots, pans and silverware along with a full size fridge. We did have to purchase toilet paper and paper towels for the condo, as well as dish soap, sponges, and other necessities. But like I said, the resort (as a hotel) was nice, but our room was barely livable. I have recently put in a request for Saint Martin through leisure connections and will post how that trip goes. It is scheduled for May 2011.

  1. BE WARY!! I joined in 2000. I was fully satisfied in 2001 through 2003 when we returned to Myrtle Beach. In 2006 I tried to find a place on the East Coast within an 8 hour drive of Philadelphia. I tried Virginia Beach, Ocean City, MD, Rehobeth Beach DE, the Jersey Shore and New England. Result - nothing available. I ended up renting a place on the Jersey Shore myself. Now I am trying for 2 condos in Myrtle Beach (I don't believe they have good access anywhere else). My request was rejected because I requested Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach but the entire Grand Strand is one location (my error). I have the choice of paying $175 extra to search a single location or re-submitting my voucher and going back to the end of the line. We are now within 60 days of our request date (original submission was timely), so what choice do I have. My second request was for a 1 bedroom condo for my daughter, spouse, and three children. Their youngest is a 1 year old who will sleep in a portacrib in her mothers' room. I am informed only two to a room, therefore the request needs to be for a two bedroom which requires an additional $175 fee. After speaking with Leisure Connections, I am not confident they can find two condos. We will see. From this point I consider my investment in Leisure Connections a bad debt and will forget about them in the future.

  2. Yes, we had the same problem over and over again for several years and finally I decided to figure out how to get it to work for me. Granted, it was not a good investment, but at least I am getting to use the condos every year finally. I have learned that if you call, you have a much better chance of trying to get a place lined up, but you really have to be open to 4 or 5 locations and be aware that the condos are not always as nice as one would hope. So far, my best deal was the condo in Kitty Hawk Outer Banks. Nothing beat that place, it was beautiful. I went back for two years in a row.
